History/Overview

Honda brought back the hatchback version of its Civic in 2017, one year after the introduction of the sedan version, the 10th generation of the model with which the 5-door version shares its structure. This is the last year for the 2021 Civic Hatchback which receives no changes from last year. The 2022 model (11th generation) makes its debut in fall 2021.

Available Trims

For 2021, the Civic Hatchback is available in two ways, either in Sport and Sport Touring configurations. Both benefit from the work of a 1.5-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder engine that can be paired with a six-speed manual transmission or with a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT).

Standard Equipment

On the outside, the Civic Hatchback Sport is equipped with 18-inch alloy wheels, a rear spoiler, power-adjustable heated exterior mirrors, a rear wiper, LED lights, a sunroof and a keyless access system.

Inside, you'll find a digital display dashboard, a dual-zone automatic climate control system, a driver's seat with power adjustments, heated front seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, an eight-speaker audio system and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration.

All Civic Hatchbacks are equipped with a forward collision detection system with automatic braking, lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control, the LaneWatch system that uses a camera to display the right blind spot on the central screen, as well as lane keeping assist.

The Sport Touring model adds LED headlights and fog lights, rain-sensing front wipers, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, navigation, wireless charging for cell phones, power adjustments for the passenger seat, heated rear seats and leather upholstery.

Fuel Consumption

The fuel consumption ratings for the Honda Civic Hatchback are 8.0 litres per 100 kilometres for city driving and 6.6 litres for highway driving when the model is equipped with the CVT. With the manual, the ratings change to 8.1 and 6.4 litres per 100 kilometres, for city and highway respectively.

Competition

The Honda Civic Hatchback's competitors include the Toyota Corolla, Kia Forte5, Volkswagen Golf, Subaru Impreza and Mazda3 Sport.
